My wishlist, for the Zoom H1 Essential recorder

I am super stoked, the Zoom H1 Essential is on preorder, backorder, and I expect it will be shipping to me this weekend. I expect to have a audio demo out next week here at Drews Sound. The 2 biggest features that our out of the norm, are accessibility, Audio guidance in the menus, and 32 bit float recording. We also know the recorder boasts USB c connectivity, so we should,in theory, be able to plug it into the Iphone 15. My hopes, and wishlist are below.

Access to all menus and options.

This should generally speaking be a given, but time will tell. Not being able to change recording format, sample rate, bit rate ect, also fx such as high pass and limiters. Hopefully we have it all with audio driven menus.

All the tracks in overdub mode. I know you can overdub on the H1, if you could grab all of the recorded tracks and stick them in a daw, that would be so sick! Life couldn’t be easier.

Have the audio output, come through the speeker, when used as external microphone. I know, we would expect them to call it audio interface mode, but, it sounds like external microphone is the term. If I say, plug the recorder into my Iphone, use it as an external mic, and could hear Voiceover through the external speeker, and menu guidance from the external speaker, this means that, no, I couldn’t monitor levels with out headphones, but that I could use it on the fly, anywhere, just by carrying a usb c cable. That would be epic!

Easy Sd card access. Hopefully with audio guidance, We can have easy access to the files on the Sd card. This means that maybe, we can have access to it’s recordings, easily within the files app on iOS! That means, you don’t have to record into the phone, but can record on the H1, and use the phone to grab and post, without, using a computer at all. Sick!

Time will tell. Stay tuned. I’m excited to spill all the beans, on all the goods!!

Facebook for iOS, new cherp sounds while swiping through posts with Voiceover enabled

First time I heard the new sound was, Friday night I believe. Almost sounds, like same sound used for sharing a post. I turned off speech and recorded the audio as I swiped through. It doesn’t play every time a post is past over, so, it’s got to mean something. It also, happens a lot on posts that include photos, or videos, but, not all the time. What does it mean?

opening an empty soda can

so if you haven’t experienced it, you’re probably thinking, WTF? Sometimes empty soda cans, come in boxes of soda. It’s unfortunate because you lose out on the soda! But the fortunate thing is, I’ve never gotten a recording of it. There’s no soda in the can. The bottom of the can is a little bit broke, and it was sticky.

I, have never, heard Roosters, like this.

A friend sent me this from a vaca he went on. I limited, and compressed pretty hard to pull up all the other doodles. Omg? This is like pretty much all roosters. Damn. I love Roosters, but, this? Is a bit freaky.

A full size keyboard that feels and acts like a laptop keyboard, Wired and wireless options

Their is just something, about a laptop’s keyboard. It’s flat,, It’s thin. The keys aren’t so stiff. The feeling! I love the sound of typing on a laptop, something, sophisticated about it, probably cause I’m from the 90’s, and, in the early 90’s, any laptop moment, was an, Oh, my, God! moment.

I, prefer to type on an external QWERTY keyboard at work. It sits nicely in front of my Braille display, it’s got a number pad, I won’t cause the internal keyboard of my laptop to go out, with 6 plus hours of typing, 5 days a week. I needed a wired option. The one I found feels oh so classy, like typing on a 2000 dollar machine. It’s got an applications key. The F keys, actually type instead of providing volume, brightness and other functions that we don’t need with a screen reader, and, it sounds so beautiful. You here the words business slash professionalism, in every word you type. If you have been searching for a wired option too, check the,

If you are looking for a wireless keyboard, that’s, almost as cool, check the,

Arteck 2.4G Wireless Keyboard… https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07D34L57F?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It feels quite a bit cheeper, like a 300-500 dollar machine, more, plastic like, but, holds up very well, and battery life? lasts months and months with heavy use. I would have been very happy if the wired above was just this goodbut it’s honestly better.
