Hand drumming, from the prospective of a desk drawer. Zoom h1e
First overdub using the Zoom H1e and Rode Nt4 with Taylor Acoustic
This was to easy to setup. It’s amazing how light things feel with out using a computer or Phone to track. I am also impressed with audio quality. This is just how audio went into the recorder. I did not import into computer and flip faze to solo tracks. Mic was on a short stand on coffee table in front of me. Used the Fantom Power Blockers to block plug-in power.
this, is what it’s supposed to sound like . Rode NT-4 with TRITON AUDIO Phantom Power Blocker into H1-E
wow! These phantom power blockers do the trick of blocking plug-in power! This is what I was expecting to hear when I plugged this in on Saturday.
Zoom H1-E essential recorder audio walk-through
below is the Zoom H1-E essential recorder walk-through. This recorder was released to the public less than a week ago. This walk-through is from a blindness perspective and includes accessibility tips, a comprehensive walk-through of menus, microphone tests, in real world audio examples.
The audio is over one hour in length. I have also included a download link for the audio under the audio player so if you want to grab it so you’re not streaming in case your connection breaks you have that option.
thanks to zoom, and zoom North America for including accessibility in the essential line of recorders!
Audio captured with internal mics of the Zoom H1 Essential Recorder
Several clips below Capture with the internal mics of the H1 Essential. captured to SD card, transferred to iPhone, imported into twisted wave, volume of each clip normalized.
Traffic. light wind rumble.
A portion of a Lyft ride with a metal chick who stopped in the middle of the road to go rescue a dog wandering also in the middle of the road 🙂 The recorder was turned sideways to be a bit inconspicuous. Hidden behind my backpack or, I hope so.
at work early morning, I was pretty much the only one around. Grabbing a soda from the soda machine. You hear a bit of handling noise on the recorder here.
A toilet. Say no more.
I continue to be impressed with this recorder! It’s such a piece of mind just to know it’s working. The audible beeps when the recording starts and stops is a welcome plus 🙂 to not have headphones plugged in to the unit at all and knowing I’m getting what I’m recording is not something I’ve ever had before.
A first look!! the all new Zoom H1 essential Recorder
Internal mics, into the IPhone 15. TTS through the recorders speaker. Full demo/Overview this weekend
ASMR – Shaking paint can
This sounds so cool. I haven’t heard it sence I was young.
My wishlist, for the Zoom H1 Essential recorder
I am super stoked, the Zoom H1 Essential is on preorder, backorder, and I expect it will be shipping to me this weekend. I expect to have a audio demo out next week here at Drews Sound. The 2 biggest features that our out of the norm, are accessibility, Audio guidance in the menus, and 32 bit float recording. We also know the recorder boasts USB c connectivity, so we should,in theory, be able to plug it into the Iphone 15. My hopes, and wishlist are below.
Access to all menus and options.
This should generally speaking be a given, but time will tell. Not being able to change recording format, sample rate, bit rate ect, also fx such as high pass and limiters. Hopefully we have it all with audio driven menus.
All the tracks in overdub mode. I know you can overdub on the H1, if you could grab all of the recorded tracks and stick them in a daw, that would be so sick! Life couldn’t be easier.
Have the audio output, come through the speeker, when used as external microphone. I know, we would expect them to call it audio interface mode, but, it sounds like external microphone is the term. If I say, plug the recorder into my Iphone, use it as an external mic, and could hear Voiceover through the external speeker, and menu guidance from the external speaker, this means that, no, I couldn’t monitor levels with out headphones, but that I could use it on the fly, anywhere, just by carrying a usb c cable. That would be epic!
Easy Sd card access. Hopefully with audio guidance, We can have easy access to the files on the Sd card. This means that maybe, we can have access to it’s recordings, easily within the files app on iOS! That means, you don’t have to record into the phone, but can record on the H1, and use the phone to grab and post, without, using a computer at all. Sick!
Time will tell. Stay tuned. I’m excited to spill all the beans, on all the goods!!
Facebook for iOS, new cherp sounds while swiping through posts with Voiceover enabled
First time I heard the new sound was, Friday night I believe. Almost sounds, like same sound used for sharing a post. I turned off speech and recorded the audio as I swiped through. It doesn’t play every time a post is past over, so, it’s got to mean something. It also, happens a lot on posts that include photos, or videos, but, not all the time. What does it mean?
