You should now have all the VO on the vO track, all the fx you are using for the project on your FX track, and your beds on the bed track.

Delete any unused takes off of the VOTMP track.

Play back your project. How does it sound, how is the mix?

Is the Voiceover on top of all other elements?

Can you understand what your saying?

Are there any jarring fx that are louder than the rest?

Is one bed louder than another?

Does your message get across?

Is it quick 8-10 seconds. Are there any long pieces that could be cut to save time?

If you can check off the above checklist, congratulations! You’ve created a peace of imaging. Now, let’s master and render it down to be played back on other systems/ radio!

Press shift+f to invoke the insert fx dialogue on the master track. Now you may type Comp as we are going to add compression.

Tab down to the list view and find

VST: ReaComp (Cockos)

press enter. This will not pop up in a bridged window, and you can tab down to the combo box to find the preset, stock – Master Bus NY Comp. Press enter then shift+tab to ad. Press space on this

In the edit box type

lim

and find VST: Limiter No6 (x86) (Vladislav Goncharov). Press enter on this

This will pop up in a bridged window so hit escape on this and tab down to the presets combo box. You want to start off listening with the Master1 preset. Press space to playback, watch it it’s going to be loud! Does it clip? Is it distorted?

You may down arrow to master two is this any better? Find the best sounding master preset and then, you may add another instance of the compressor and preset stock – Master Bus NY Comp. This will drop the volume a few DB. Everything will sound different, punchy. You may escape once you are set. How are levels, you may need to adjust individual tracks volume.

There are subtle sound differences between the limiter and the maximizer plugin mentioned above. If you are not happy with the sound of the limiter on the master bus, you may try another limiter or maximizer plugin.

Now press control+alt+r to pop up the render window or get to it from your file menu. Type in the path for the file including file name, or tab to the brows button, put a file name in the file name box, then shift+tab twice and find your location to save. Tab back to the file name box and press enter. You will be back in the render box, shift+tab back to the file path box and hit enter, or tab to render and hit enter. It will take a few moments to render all the tracks/vst fx down into one wave file.

After the status shows as complete, launch your newly created file in Goldwave via the Open Dialogue. You will want to use f4 to play, and F5 to rewind. Do the start and end of the wave file line up with the start and end of the imager? If not you will want to trim the ends so there isn’t blank space in the file. This can happen when the vO Temp track was longer than the imager and then you have the rest of that time in the file. Rewind, with f5 until you start hearing the end of the imager playing backwards. Press f4 which will play back forwards at normal speed, and press [ left bracket as soon as you stop hearing audio. Make sure you are listening on headphones and have the volume up decently loud so you don’t set the start point on the tail of your outro fx. Then press f8 which will stop playback, and press control+x to cut the remaining silence from the imager. Now, press control+shift+home to set the start marker back to the start of the file and control+shift+end to set the finish marker to the end of the file and play through it again backwards with f5. Note if Goldwave isn’t set to play selection you may be in the middle of the file. If it starts playing back the end of the imager in reverse as soon as you hit f5, you are good to go. Press control+s to save the file, you may now alt+f4 out of Goldwave.

Play it back on another set of headphones, or another stereo, how does it sound, can you still hear everything clearly?

If you are the station owner and you have a second setup of Stationplaylist assuming this is the playout software you are using, play the imager back through your radio processing, how does it sound? I’m sure it sounds awesome!!!

You may now set the intros outros in the SPL track tool as well if you are satisfied with the imager to ramp over music.
