So, this isn’t an audio post, but, I’ve been thinking it may shed some interesting light on my experience with AB&B from a blindness prospective.

AB&B, Air Bed And Breakfast, has been around for some time, but it is different than staying in a hotel/motel.

Generally speaking, your renting a room, or house, for a set amount of time. You, and your guests are the only ones staying in the space.

My brother has used AB&B quite a bit. He told me that it really depends on the individual location, per experience, that most times he has had a great experience, but there are the few times that it hasn’t always been smooth, so even though AB&B is a company, it’s kind of like Lyft or Uber in a way, because the experience is up to the individual who is renting the space.

I was in Saint Lewis Missouri last week, visiting my best friend, and my twin brother/family. I would suggest that if you are renting an AB&B, that you have sighted assist to help choose the spot, as well as take photos when you get into the space, inside and out, to document the condission the AB&B is in before you move in. I know that’s not always ideal, but if you have the opportunity, do it. Also, take picks before you check out.

The app is completely accessible. I used the web site to book the rental, I’m sure you can book it through the app too. Once you book the rental, is when you are provided with the address where you will be staying. I didn’t receive checkin instructions, such as lock code to get into the unit until the day of check in. I didn’t receive the check out instructions until the day before check out. You click a button in the app after you have checked out, to let the host know. You are able to communicate, message the host/owner of the space via the app, or e-mail, durring your stay with any concerns. You will receive a message after checkout that the host has written a review for you. You must write your review first, to see the hosts review. The review process seems accessible. It is a wizard in the app with 10 steps. Radio buttons, text boxes to rate the host, and the space.

Linnons, and dishes are included. I grabbed a few rolls of TP, and throwaway dishes, so I didn’t worry about anything, just trash it all before I left. Given the right circumstances, I will be glad to use the service again. We spent most of our time in the space, I rented an entire lower level of a house. We kept volumes low, but jammed on guitars and electronic drums and jammed music. The Saint Lewis marcket has all the goods, such as Doordash, and Uber Eats, so we were fine to get grub and drinks as needed.

I felt like it was my house for the week. I think that’s the wway it’s supposed to be.
